…and now for silent articulation
We are pleased to announce our first winner – Elizabeth Hatcher a young film major at De Anza Junior College. Bear is a delightful story depicting those sentimental attachments we carry with us into adulthood. Congratulations, Elizabeth.
I have to admit one of the reasons I always hesitate to attend contest screenings is to avoid this syndrome of “sizing up the other.” It’s inevitable in any competition but both years I’ve attended the 48HFP that feeling dissipated once the films start to show. I felt not only the crowd enjoying their particular contribution to the night but the works of others as well.
Given the parameters of the 48 Hour Film Project, I chose a different approach. One I felt would make me feel happy, successful, and not become too much of a b*tch on set during the run. Simply – “Have fun. Get it done.”

…there are these pressing internal concerns of continuing to produce art and film, finding the space to create, and how can I make the time to do all this.
